Benches

Benches can be a good method of seating multiple people at a dining table. They can also be used around the house where seating or just decoration is required. There are many styles of rustic benches out there. Finishes can vary, and they can even be weatherized for outdoor use.

The rustic or farmhouse benches I have built has been very strong and stable. I have made several of them and are popular with anyone who tries them.

As the first style of bench I built, I am fond of it, given I did not find or mimic any specific similar design. I like the A-frame legs, and the long horizontal bracing under the seat rather than lower in the middle like most benches. That way there is less possibility of breaking the supporting structure when people rest their feet on it as they always will do. This design has been tested with two full grown men, and worked wonderfully.

I currently have one of these at my dining room table, where it gets regular use. I have matched the finish with table top and chairs of my dining room table.

Garden Benches

These benches are perfect for sitting outside watching the world go by. With curved backs and seats, additional options can be included such as a center table, cup holders, and different arm styles.
